  • Limited to One Commission

This unique piece will be limited to only one commission, preserving it's complete rarity. Designed to grace the drawing room or entrance hall this beautiful free standing Champagne Cellarette is hand crafted in English walnut, English sycamore and Macassar Ebony, with solid ebony cock beading.

The cellarette is circular in shape with hand curved English walnut fluting around the entire outside form and red suede hand curved fluting internally on the doors and in the centre. The cellarette is supported on four hand jointed macassar ebony legs. The top of the cellarette rotates through 180° to form a pouring table and reveal the nickel fluted ice bucket which will accommodate up to six magnums of champagne.

Secret drawers hide a sommelier set and secret catches open four doors in the fluted sides which reveals the red suede internal fluting which makes perfect storage space for hand blown champagne flutes. The sides of the cellarette are hand fluted in English walnut and each flute is separated by a fine ebony beading which is used to disguise the handmade nickel hinges that attach the four doors. The doors are opened using push catches and supported by hand made curved nickel stays. Opening the doors reveals a rich red suede interior with space for up to twelve champagne flutes that are held in place by a fine nickel rail.

The cellarette lid is made using radially slip matched English walnut and edged in a sycamore bead and macassar ebony giving the effect of a large flower head. The lid is attached to the body of the cellarette by a specially designed and manufactured hinge which allows it to rotate through 180° and yet is strong enough to allow the lid to be then used as a pouring table.

The four macassar ebony legs terminate in a curved scallop detail with nickel castors which enables the piece to be moved around easily. When not in use the cellarette can be used as a side or lamp table and then brought forward for use during pre-dinner drinks or cocktail reception. The handmade nickel bucket is dual skinned to retain temperature and features two handles to allow easy empty and refill of ice. Its fluted interior has been designed to hold up to six magnums of champagne but is of course equally accommodating for standard size bottles.

This Cellarette is handmade in England by English master craftsmen who combine traditional cabinet making skills with modern technology to produce furniture of unmatched quality. The nickel handles, stays, hinges and pivoting lid mechanism are all made at a foundry in England using traditional methods. Once set, the handles, stays and hinges are hand finished and polished to a mirrored nickel finish.

The cellarette has a few secret compartments two of which can only be accessed by unlocking the pivoting lid. These secret compartments contain a sommelier kit and wine accessories which are all hidden within the red suede interior flutes. The champagne cellarette is hand fluted on the outside with ebony beading following the lines in between the hand shaped fluting with four hand made nickel hinges disguised within the ebony beading to allow the doors to open. Traditionally the cellarette would be locked and the Butler carefully secured the key to avoid other staff partaking of the contents. To preserve this security, and add an element of fun, the lid is locked via a secret locking mechanism that only Neal Jones, the maker and the fortunate owner will know.
